Travellers in Burnham-On-Sea ‘served with legal papers’ say police

-

Burnham-On-Sea Police say legal papers have been served on a group of travellers who have set up camp in a car park in the town.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported at the weekend that a group of travellers have descended on Pier Street car park just off The Esplanade.

Burnham-On-Sea Police Neighbourhood Beat Manager Ryan Dinham, speaking at Monday’s Annual Town Council Meeting, said: “They have been served with papers to go. It can take 14 days for them to be moved on, but they are saying they intend to leave on Wednesday. We hope they will be good on their word.”

The dozen vehicles – including caravans, cars and horse boxes – are parked on spaces at the far southern end of the car park.

Sedgemoor District Council, which owns the car park, is aware of the situation and is monitoring it ahead of possible legal action to move them on.
