Burnham-On-Sea Cinema screening of The Artist to raise charity funds

-

To mark Motor Neurone Disease awareness month, a special screening of a film is to be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema on Monday June 27th.

All profits will go to the South and West Somerset Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a national charity that supports patients, carers and families.

In this area activities are co-ordinated by the regional branch whose Chairman, Mike Price, lives in Burnham. His partner, Jayne, died in 2012 from MND.

“After a previous and very successful screening of the Eddie Redmayne / Stephen Hawking film, and in recognition of the theme of this year’s ‘Silence Speaks’ MND awareness campaign, we are having a special screening of the five-Oscar winning modern silent film “The Artist”, said Mike.

The story takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, and focuses on the relationship of an older film star and a rising young actress as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by ‘talkies’.

Doors open at 1.30pm with the film starting at 2.00pm. Tickets are £5 each and can be obtained from The Ritz on 01278 794123.
