Runners in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are being encouraged to enter the town’s Sport Relief Mile, which takes place on Sunday (20th March).

The fundraising event will take place from 2.30pm at Apex Park and will include several distance runs.

“Entrants don’t have to be sporty to take part, but can chose to complete 1, 3 or 6 miles, knowing that all the money raised will help to change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep and across the rest of the UK,” said a spokesman.

Participants can sign up now here. Adult entries are £7, children are £3 while families (two adults and two children) are £17.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief aims to bring the entire nation together to get active and raise cash for good causes.

Burnham organiser Jonathan Smith added: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is here and it’s your time to walk or run yourself proud. From little ones with their mums and dads, to runners up against the clock, there’s something for everyone to make themselves feel proud on this special day.”

There will be music, entertainment and refreshments served and a bouncy castle for youngsters to enjoy.
