Burnham-On-Sea opticians appeals for donations for charity sale

-

A Burnham-On-Sea opticians is appealing to customers to show their support for Blind Veterans UK by donating unwanted items to be sold off in store.

The team at Specsavers in the High Street is asking customers to drop off unwanted clothes, books, games and toys before tomorrow, Saturday 18th June.

Staff will then host a charity sale in store throughout Armed Forces Week (20-26 June) to raise funds for Blind Veterans, with any leftover items being donated to local charity shops.

Customers will also be invited to ‘Make a Spectacle’ of themselves as part of the charity’s national campaign which is supported by Barbara Windsor.

“We’re delighted to be supporting Blind Veterans UK this year by hosting a charity sale in store,” says Rama Venkat, store director at Specsavers Burnham-on-Sea.

“We’re hoping lots of customers will come and drop off some of their unwanted clothes which we can sell on during Armed Forces Week to raise much needed funds for the charity.”

“Our optometrist, Dr Nicola Phelps, who also serves as a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF, will also join us on the Wednesday in her official uniform, helping to raise awareness for the charity.”

Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.

To drop off unwanted items or to find out more about the store’s support of Blind Veterans UK, pop into Specsavers at 3 High Street.
