Over £2,000 has been raised this year for local good causes by weekly quiz nights held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Social Club.

The popular weekly Friday quizes have raised a total of £2,004 so far during 2016 for local charities, clubs and societies.

Those that have benefited include: BARB Search & Rescue, Fibro Somerset, Somerset Scouts, Hillview Carnival Club, CLIC and many more. An average of £140 is raised on the evenings with the record standing at £287!

Local clubs and societies, school PTAs, charities, local groups are invited to contact The Ritz in Victoria Street to book for Friday dates between July and December.

Ritz committee member Mike Barsby said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer local groups the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing night out and to raise a substantial amount for their good cause at the same time.”

“We organise everything, from supplying the questions, quizmaster, snacks and the raffle. All the good cause has to do is turn up on the night with a few teams, supply a couple of raffle prizes and enjoy the evening.”

“Our target for 2016 is £6,000, so if your group or charity wants to share in this money please contact us as soon as you can to arrange a suitable date.”

The quiz starts at 8.30pm and ends about 10.30pm. Questions are suitable for all – nothing too difficult and families are welcome.

“Teams of up to six are invited to arrive from 8pm. Admission costs just £1 per person and the quiz quiz is open to everyone so even if your not a charity and just fancy a quiz with friends on a Friday night the Ritz will give you a warm welcome,” added Mike.

If you would like your group or charity to be booked in for a future date or just want more info, email ritzsocialclub@hotmail.co.uk or call Mike on 07936538263.
