-

Scores of residents in Highbridge took part in a Remembrance Day ceremony in the town on Sunday.

The event began with a parade of dozens of youngsters through the town to St John’s Church, as show in the video below.

A special remembrance service was led by Rev Sharon Crossman and was then followed by wreath-laying at the war memorial.

The Last Post was played by Highbridge trumpet player Francis Fear, followed by the customary two minutes silence. Traffic on the A38 also came to a halt with drivers observing the moment.

Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke, and other local councillors were among the dignitaries taking part in the special event.

Among the groups laying wreaths were Highbridge Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Cubs, St John Ambulance Badgers plus local Army and Sea Cadets.

Members of the town’s police force, Royal British Legion and Highbridge Chamber of Trade also paid their respects.
