Two people have been arrested after a ram-raid in which a car slammed into the front of a Burnham-On-Sea town centre shop early today in which over £1,000 of laptop computers and iPads were stolen.

Police were called to The Laptop Shop in Burnham High Street just after 5am this morning where they found the front window had been smashed and computer equipment removed from the display.

Shop owner Nigel Ashworth told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve got some CCTV footage which shows a Vauxhall Corsa ram-raiding the shop and then a person inside taking several iPads and laptops.”

“It was a shock when the police called me first thing – it’s so annoying and disruptive. The police have done a great job,” added Nigel.

Police spokesman Craig Evry told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are investigating a burglary which took place at around 5.10am today. With the assistance of the police dog teamm, two people have been arrested. A 31 year-old male and a 29 year-old woman are in custody.”
