Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Poppy Appeal launched on Saturday (29th October) with collections underway across the two towns.

Burnham’s Royal British Legion is overseeing the annual appeal, which runs through to 12th November.

Volunteers and local groups such as the Army Cadets and Sea Cadets, pictured here, are collecting at the two towns’ supermarkets.

Organiser Ruth Crosby said: “The Poppy Appeal Collectors are the face of the Legion during the Poppy Appeal.”

“They help provide as many opportunities as possible for people to wear a poppy to show their support for our Armed Forces, while raising important funds.”

Last year the appeal raised almost £30,000 in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge and it’s hoped a similar amount will be collected this year using the volunteers.
