A woman was rushed to hospital after an accident in Highbridge on Monday afternoon (November 21st).

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Pople’s Bow shortly after 2.30pm where a driver had lost control travelling over the hump-back bridge.

One fire appliance from Burnham-On-Sea and another from Bridgwater were called to the scene to help the driver trapped inside.

“Crews removed the roof of the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment, and the female was extricated onto a stretcher and conveyed to hospital,” said a fire spokesman.

The woman was taken to Musgrove Hospital with a suspected back injury.
