Burnham-On-Sea’s pier raises new Union Jacks for Queen’s birthday

-

New Union Jack flags have been installed on the roof of Burnham-On-Sea’s Pavilion in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday today (Thursday).

Roofer Greg Fleming climbed up to the top of the pier this week, as pictured here, to replace them in time for the national celebration.

The pier, which is in record books as the UK’s shortest, has to change its flags frequently because the onshore winds from the Bristol Channel take their toll.

The Pavilion’s Louise Parkin said: “We wanted the new flags up in time for the Queen’s birthday and the start of the new holiday season.”
