Ahead of Highbridge’s Apex Park playing host to an outdoor screening of a powerful Tchaikovsky opera later this month, a preview of the show is to be performed on Burnham-On-Sea seafront.

To give visitors and residents a sneak peak of the ‘Opera for All’, which is coming to Apex Park on 20th August, singers from Garsington Opera will be coming to busk to promote the event.

The performers will be on Burnham-On-Sea sea front on Tuesday 16th August from 2.15pm.

Sedgemoor District Council is one of the partners – alongside Garsington Opera for All, the Friends of Apex Park, local schools, Bridgwater Arts Centre, McMillian Theatre, Somerset Film, Bridgwater Carnival and food and drink suppliers – who will be bringing the operatic extravaganza to Highbridge.

The council is supporting the event, which opens at 4.30pm, by making sure Apex Park is spic and span, and hope it will raise the profile of Burnham and its local businesses as well as showcasing this exciting outdoor art-form for Sedgemoor.

Opera for All works in collaboration with local authorities and cultural organisations. The programme delivers free public screenings of performances from Garsington Opera, alongside a wider programme of participatory learning sessions for schools and adult groups aiming to promote, develop and sustain cultural opportunity in each area.

Opera for All is a partnership between Garsington Opera, the charitable trust Magna Vitae, and the Coastal Communities Alliance, and is supported by Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Fund.
