Burnham fundraiser raises over £600 at sponsored beard shave

-

A Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser raised hundreds of pounds for charity by having his beard shaved off this week.

Mike Perrin held the sponsored beard shave and hair cut for St Margaret’s Hospice while his grand-daughter, Kylie Perrin, 8, also took part by having her long hair cut, with the locks sent to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs for young cancer sufferers.

Thursday’s sponsored event was held at Francesco Hair Salon in Highbridge where Mike’s other grandaughter, Amy Niblett, works and who did the cutting.

Mike, who is well known locally for his fundraising as Santa over the festive period due in part to his beard, told Burnham-On-Sea.com afterwards: “It went very well and I’m delighted to have raised more than £600 for St Margaret’s Hospice. It does feel very odd and cold without my beard – I can’t stroke it any longer – but it’s all for a great cause!”

He and his wife Denice have been busy fundraising through the year for St Margaret’s Hospice, raising a huge £9,000 in 2015. Mike has a Just Giving page where people can give their support at www.justgiving.com/mikeperrin/
