The RNLI is looking for new lifeguards to join its team in Burnham-On-Sea this summer.

The organisation provides lifeguard cover on local beaches over the summer and is now looking to recruit new lifeguards for this season. Recruitment is open and applications are being sought.

Candidates will need to prove they are courageous, selfless, trustworthy and dependable to make the grade and be selected.

“While many may think lifeguarding is all about rescues in the water, 95 per cent of the role is preventative, with lifeguards offering beachgoers helpful advice including tide times and any potential hazards to avoid, ensuring everybody has a safe and enjoyable day at the beach,” said a spokesman.

A training course is due to begin on Tuesday 31st May and candidates will be required to join the Surf Lifesaving Association at http://www.slsgb.org.uk/support-us/membership/
