Burnham-On-Sea Police issue warning after jet ski is stolen in break-in

-

Police have urged boat and jet ski owners in Burnham-On-Sea to be extra vigilant following the theft of a high-power machine in the town.

The jet ski, pictured above, was stolen from Burnham Sailing Club earlier this month and has been recovered from a field in Highbridge.

Police say it was taken in an overnight break-in at Burnham’s boat yard around May 2nd before it was hidden in a field.

“The thieves drove it out of town to Poples Bow in Highbridge, probably after finding one of the tyres on the trailer was flat, and they then tried to hide away the jet ski,” said the owner, who has asked not to be named.

“They used bolt cutters to open the gate of a field and then stashed the machine away – presumably to collect it later.”

“We are so relieved that the farmer spotted it and reported it to the Police who have now returned it to us.”

Burnham-On-Sea Police have asked boat and jet ski owners to check security of jet skis and boats. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Burnham Police on 101.
