Burnham-On-Sea’s MP is ‘undecided’ over EU referendum vote

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has said this week he is “undecided” about how to vote in the European referendum.

James Heappey explained: “I am still undecided. I think the Prime Minister’s deal was better than the one that he had advertised previously, but I am still not convinced that the deal we have achieved is one that will fundamentally change our relationship with the EU – and I am clear that that relationship fundamentally does need to change.”

“But I don’t feel that the failure of our negotiations in itself, by default, leads to a vote for leaving because the implications of leaving are pretty severe as well.”

“I am still chewing over the arguments and very much cautioning against the certainty of those who feel very strongly that we should leave or remain.”

“Inevitably they are making arguments that are over-simplistic. I think that the debate over the next four months will help me and others to understand what is at stake,” he added.
