Burnham Infants School makes special visit to BARB hovercrafts

-

Dozens of children from Burnham-On-Sea Infants School have made a special visit to the town’s rescue hovercraft charity BARB this week.

The 80 children from Burnham Infants heard about beach safety from the BARB crewmembers ahead of the summer holidays.

The children got to see the BARB hovercrafts flying along Burnham-On-Sea beach during a training exercise and they also sat onboard the stationary craft to hear about how they work.

They also got to see a specially-arranged fly-past by the Coastguard helicopter, which was in the area training at the time.

“It was great to meet the children of Burnham Infants who showed a great deal of interest in our hovercrafts,” said a BARB spokesman. “This visit is one of many made by local schools and groups to BARB throughout the year to pro-actively give beach safety information and advice.”
