A horse was rescued from a water-filled ditch by Burnham-On-Sea fire crews on Thursday afternoon (November 10th).

Crews used lines and heavy lifting equipment to rescue the animal in Sloway Lane, West Huntspill just before 3pm.

A fire engine from Burnham-On-Sea along with an animal rescue team from Exmouth were sent to the scene.

“The horse was stuck in the ditch up to its shoulders in water. A telehandler was requested to attend which was sent from Exeter,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The horse was successfully rescued unharmed using strops and lines along with assistance from the telehandler. A local vet also attended to oversee the wellbeing of the animal.”
