Highbridge councillor’s concern at grass cutting ‘clogging up drains’

-

Concerns have been raised about the “awful mess” left by council grass cutting contractors in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.

Cllr Janet Keen told this month’s Town Council meeting that the cutting of road verges should be better managed.

“It is appreciated that the grass is cut, but what is not appreciated is that the cut grass is just left,” she said.

“It creates an awful mess and gets into the drains. I am aware that to pick up the cut grass does cause an extra cost but I think it is worth that cost to have tidy and clean surroundings and avoid clogging up the drains. I would be grateful if this point could be taken up with the contractors.”

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council Clerk Denise Emery is to contact Somerset County Council to pursue the matter further.
