Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Band will perform in front of one of their biggest ever audiences this month when they play on the world-famous Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Music Festival.

The iconic main stage is one of the most famous music venues in the world and the festival attracts some of the biggest stars.

Burnham and Highbridge Band will open the stage on the Sunday morning of the festival, and will be followed on the day by the likes of Ellie Goulding, Beck and Coldplay.

Tony Fricker, Chairman of Burnham and Highbridge Band, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a great honour that we have been asked by Michael Eavis to play at this year’s festival on the prestigious Pyramid Stage – we are all looking forwards to it!”

The band will play from 11am on Sunday 26th June and TV viewers will be able to watch them live using the BBC’s interactive service.

Michael Eavis is a frequent visitor to Burnham and said in a national newspaper interview in 2013 that Burnham-On-Sea is his favourite place in Somerset, as we featured here. He praised the town for being “laid back and unspoilt.”

The Pyramid Stage’s opening slot on the Sunday has previously featured Burtle Silver Band, the English National Ballet, and Yeovil Town Band. This year’s festival runs from June 22nd-26th.
