Burnham-On-Sea Tae Kwon-Do students head to world championships

A team from Burnham-On-Sea's Gemini Tae Kwon-Do Club are set to prove that they are among the best in the world.

Students from Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do club, who train at Highbridge's King Alfred School, are getting ready to compete at the World TAGB Championships next month.

Five Burnham students - Matthew Palfrey, Isabelle Froggatt and Stephen Barnshaw, plus Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds - will be among 19 students travelling to Birmingham over the weekend of July 16/17 to compete in the event.

The world championships attract over 3,000 competitors from all over the world.

Club instructor Jane Lambert told "This will be the largest ever number of local competitors taking part, so we are very excited for them."

"I'm incredibly happy and proud for them - they are all working so hard and to reach the world chamnpionships is a great achievement."

Classes are held at King Alfred School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when men, women and children of all abilities are welcome.
