First Bus cuts the cost of bus travel in the Burnham-On-Sea area

-

First West of England has given local bus users an early Christmas present by cutting the price of most bus tickets in a newly created Western Outer Zone.

The new zone covers everything within a 12-mile radius of Weston-super-Mare, and includes places such as Burnham-On-Sea, Brean, Cheddar, Clevedon and Backwell.

Compared to the previous fare structure the new zone effectively makes travel up to 15% cheaper on day, week, month and year tickets.

Prior to the change, which came into effect on Sunday 30th October, a West of England week ticket would cost £27.

Following the introduction of the new Outer Zone a bus user will pay £23.80 for a week ticket, which is £3.20 cheaper – or £166 per year.

The cost of a monthly ticket is reduced by £16, a saving of £192 per year. The fares for single journeys up to 3 miles and between 3 and 6 miles has remained the same at £1.70 and £2.70 respectively.

Andrew Sherrington, General Manager for Bath, Wells and Weston, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve listened to customer feedback from residents in Clevedon, Brean and Congresbury; our new zone brings Weston-Super-Mare in line with Bristol and Bath who also have an outer zone.”
