A fundraising ‘super-gig’ is to be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre on Easter Sunday (March 27th).

Six acts will play during the day-long event, which is being organised by the team behind Burnham’s Folkfest to raise money for the town’s Hillview Carnival Club.

Doors will open at 1pm with the first act onstage at 2pm. The schedule will be: 2pm Bouncing Biscuit, 3.30pm Chiller, 5pm Big Joe Bone, 6.30pm Vermin, 8pm Ish Kabbible and 9.30pm Leylines.

Folkfest Chairman Dom Wills told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Though Folkfest is unlikely to ever happen again, the committee maintains its commitment to the promotion of live music in Burnham.”

“This show and the one on September 3rd will perhaps be the best we’ve ever put on. All door-takings will be donated to Hillview Carnival Club. All bar takings will be used to finance further gigs in the town.”

“We really hope the people of Burnham support this endeavour in the same way they’ve always supported Folkfest.”

“Those buying an all-day wristband will be able to enjoy the fist-pumping folk rock anthems of The Leylines: the old time swing and sizzling klezmer of outrageous Gypsy dance band Ish Kabbible: the excellent Eighties gothtronica of Chiller, with their top-notch covers of the likes of Gary Numan, Visage and The Cult: the hi-energy West Country folk punk of Vermin: the deep blues and storming bluegrass of Big Joe Bone: and the feel-good super-danceable pop rock covers of Bouncing Biscuit.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here last year that FolkFest had been axed due to a pressure on resources. The FolkFest website here also confirms that no event will be held in 2016.
