Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront will be full of cyclists this evening (Saturday, June 18th) when the annual coast-to-coast cycle ride finishes in the town.

Over 400 riders are signed up for the cross-country Chase The Sun event that sees riders leaving the Isle of Sheppey in Kent at 4.30am and then riding to get to Burnham before sunset.

The cyclists are expected to start arriving at the jetty from around 6.30pm onwards on Saturday.

Burnham-On-Sea Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Town Council is proud to welcome the cycle ride back to Burnham.”

“We know our local accommodation providers get booked up months in advance for this event.”

“The arrival of the cyclists is going to look very special on the seafront and we hope that locals and visitors will come out to cheer them on.”

The Town Council has booked the Wild Robot Horse Box DJ, pictured right, to entertain spectators while they wait for the cyclists with music from 4pm.

Organiser Olly Moore added: “Chase the Sun is an annual endurance event that presents a unique physical, navigational and motivational challenge for the enthusiastic riders involved.”

“The ride grows every year, as the concept seems to catch the imagination and inspire more people to take part.”

“Cyclists from all sorts of background have participated, from commuters, to elite athletes. The ride is free to enter.”
