The 70th aniversary of Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival will be marked with an extra special parade this year – and the group of organisers behind the event have this week started their preparations during their AGM.

Members of Highbridge and Burnham Carnival Association, pictured below, met on Wednesday evening (March 9th) for their AGM at the Somerset & Dorset pub where they reviewed a busy year leading up to the carnival.

This year’s 70th Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival will be held on Monday November 7th at 7.30pm.

Key positions elected during Wednesday’s AGM were Phil New as Carnival Chairman, Paul Archer as Vice Chairman, Malcolm Borland as President, Sam Archer as Secretary, Jonathan Walter as Treasurer, and Anneli New as Collection Liason Convenor.

Phil said: “We have a great committee in place this year to help organise an extra special carnival in our 70th anniversary year.”

The group’s Carnival Queen and Princess pageant ceremony will be held on Friday April 29th at 7pm at The Princess Theatre.
