Brent Knoll summer fete fun set to get underway on Saturday

-

Brent Knoll’s annual summer fete takes place on Saturday (June 11th) with a traditional line-up of music, games and stalls.

Organisers are keeping their fingers crossed for good weather, with the event expected to draw large crowds of visitors to Brent Knoll Green from 2pm.

The event will feature the Brent Knoll Primary School Dancers, Burnham U3A Ukulele Band, the Chalice Morris Men plus stalls and a grand draw.

“Of special note this year will be the 100th Anniversary celebrations of the W.I. (they started in the village in 1927 – not quite a century here, but not far off) and the 50th Anniversary of the Good Companions,” said John Page, Chairman of the Village Fete Committee.

“Both of these organisations will be represented by a special photographic display in the Hall, some pictures taking us back to the very early days of both.”

“Unfortunately, we do not always have the names to put to the faces in the photographs. That is where you may be able to help. By each picture will be a copy, with a distinct number associated with each person. If you know who they are, then please note their name by their number.”

Opening the event this year will be Alan Castle, who has been with the Good Companions for many years and is also known for his Tai-Chi classes and his membership of the Short Mat Bowling Club.

Young children who like dressing up will be able to join a fancy dress competition as their favourite character. There will be three prizes awarded for the best costumes, thanks to Jenny Butters.
