Burnham-On-Sea’s MP is to hold talks with Bristol Airport to try and encourage more travellers to visit the Burnham area.

James Heappey wants to see more done by the airlines and airport to encourage visitors to stay in Somerset rather than Bristol.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Bristol Airport is one of the fastest growing regional airports in the country – there are new routes opening up all the time. There are also some really great airlines that are looking to come into Bristol, with long and short haul trips.”

“The problem at the moment is that Bristol Airport delivers people almost exclusively into Bristol, so I have been speaking to the airport and the county council and all the other MPs in Somerset to work out how we can make Bristol Airport serve Somerset better.”

“This is really important because we have a big visitor economy here with great attractions and accommodation and we want people to see the airport as a gateway to Somerset and come here for their holiday, not to be based in Bristol and to just visit us for day trips.”
