Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress were the VIP guests at a very special birthday celebration at the weekend.

Pensioner Harry Cowe marked his 100th birthday with a party for family and friends in the town.

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress Michael and Maria Clarke popped in to wish him a happy birthday on his big day.

Harry was presented with a traditional greetings card from The Queen and also received a unique darts board themed cake in which the darts were pointing at a combined score of 100.

Daughter Jan Brigham told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “He’s so wonderful and still has a very sharp mind.”

“We were all delighted to have the Mayor and Mayoress there to celebrate his special day with him.”

Mayor Cllr Clarke said Harry was “looking very good for a hundred and really enjoyed his big day.”

Harry, who previously worked as a butcher in Newcastle and an engineer in Birmingham, settled in Burnham to be nearer his family.
