Busy evening of Somerset wassailing fun in Burnham area tonight

Three ceremonies are set to be held across the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Saturday, 17th January) to mark the centuries-old tradition of Somerset wassailing.

Brent Knoll’s West Croft Cider Farm will hold its event on Saturday at 7pm. The event will feature belly dancers, The Mummers, Challice Morris Men, The Fallen Apples plus singer Nathaniel Topping. Entry is by ticket only. Tickets are priced at £10 each (children under 14 free) and are available by calling West Croft on 01278 760762. Tickets include a glass of mulled cider plus free sample of West Croft ciders.

Meanwhile, Burnham-On-Sea’s Rotary Club and Rich’s Farmhouse Cider Farm are also organising a wassailing night at the cider farm in Watchfield starting at 7pm. Entertainment will be provided by The Skimmity Hitchers & Bob Darch Music with plenty of cider and other refreshments to beat the winter chills. The event is being held in aid of the Stroke Association, and tickets are priced at £7.50 for adults (children under 12 free) and are available on 01278 783651.

Chestnut Farm in Edithmead will also hold its wassailing at 7.30pm, with lots of fun for all ages! Booking is essential and tickets cost Adults £5, under 16s £2 (to include a Ploughman’s supper and mulled cider). Wear wellies, warm clothes and a torch is essential.
