£40,000 of grant funding available to village halls in the Burnham area

-

Up to £40,000 of funding is available to village halls across the Burnham-On-Sea area thanks to a Sedgemoor District Council grant scheme.

The Village Hall Grant Scheme is open for applications for projects that are of a capital nature that will improve the use of the building and enhance sustainability, for example by improving energy efficiency to reduce on-going running costs.

Village Halls can apply for up to a maximum of £10,000 including any non-recoverable VAT or up to 50% of total project costs – whichever is the lesser.

Priority will be given to those halls which have not received funding from the Village Halls Grant Scheme in the last five years.

Voluntary hall committees or a constituted voluntary steering group can apply for funds subject to further criteria.

Applications must be received by Sedgemoor District Council no later than Friday 3rd July 2015 and applicants will be informed whether their application has been successful by 20th July.

The project must be commenced and the first grant claim submitted by 31st March 2016. Projects must be completed and the final grant claim made by 1st April 2018.

Application forms, detailed criteria and guidance notes are available from www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/grants, by emailing community.services@sedgemoor.gov.uk or calling 01278 435435.

Last year, over £33,000 was awarded by the council to four village halls across Sedgemoor through the scheme to improve facilities.
