Over 150 compete in Burnham-On-Sea’s summer Sprint Triathlon

-

Over 150 athletes from across the region converged on Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (June 7th) for the town’s annual summer triathlon.

Organised by Burnham-On-Sea Swim and Sports Academy, the popular Sprint Triathlon saw the athletes swim 500m, complete a 20km cycle ride, and then do a 5km run. The event finished on Burnham beach, watched by spectators.

Jason Emmett from Evolution Triathletes won the overall event in a fast time of one hour and 44 seconds. The first lady home was Celia Miall from West Country Triathletes in a time of 1:06:57. Both are pictured with organiser Martin Rogers.

Martin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m really pleased with how it went. The numbers were slightly down on last year, but the standard was still very high and we had some competitive racing.” Full results here.
