A Burnham-On-Sea school’s tennis squad is celebrating this week after winning a regional tournament.

The young members of St Andrew’s School competed in the Sedgemoor Primary Schools Tennis Tournament, organised by Burnham’s Avenue Tennis Club.

St Andrew’s School were the eventual winners, beating Enmore Primary School in a closely fought final. Several local schools competed and nearly 100 children were involved.

“We are obviously delighted to have won but the whole occasion was a splendid opportunity to give tennis a try,” said St Andrew’s head teacher Gavin Morris.

“It was an excellent, well organised event with students from King Alfred School helping to score the matches. Many thanks to The Avenue Tennis Club for putting the competition together and to Mr Kieran Franklin our successful coach!”
