Up and coming musical performers in the Burnham-On-Sea showed off their talent during a new competition in the town on Saturday night (February 28th).

Burnham’s Princess Theatre hosted the first Talent Showcase when local musicians, pictured above, performed in front of a panel of judges.

The competition was won by Corin Hughes and Abi Ewles, right, who will get a set at this summer’s annual ‘Sat in a Field’. They also received another four offers of festivals and gigs on the night.

In second place were The Dex, who as well as winning a set at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, are being considered by the organisers of ‘Sat in a Field’ and Farmfest.

In joint third place were Odds to End and David Perrot who both also won a set at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta.

“We had a great evening,” said organiser Lewis Coleman. “There are some great opportunities here for these talented musicians. I wish them all the best.”

The event also raised £500 for the charity Somewhere House Somerset and The Princess Theatre.

Lewis thanked the judges who, pictured above, were Mike David and Marc Atkins, organisers of ‘Sat in a Field’, Ollie Hulme and Steve Parkhouse (managing director of Jelli Records).

Lewis also thanked Graham Cook of GC Sound and Lighting who with the help from Clive Bond, put much time, effort and equipment into the show.
