Met Office warns of week of gales, heavy rain and snow for Burnham area

Residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been warned to expect a week of stormy winter weather with strong winds, heavy rain and even a chance of some sleet and snow.

Light snow could fall in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Tuesday night and next weekend as the Met Office issues a severe weather warning for gales of up to 75mph on Wednesday.

The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for the South West region on Wednesday with a warning that heavy rain and winds could cause disruption.

Severe gales or severe gales are expected to develop. with gusts of up to 75mph on coasts.

“A deepening area of low pressure is expected to track across the north of the UK during Wednesday and into Thursday,” says the Met Office.

“A spell of heavy rainfall is expected across many parts of western and southern England and Wales in association with this system, lasting from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning, when clearer, colder weather is expected to spread southeast.”

Residents have been asked to be aware of the risk of localised disruption to transport and power supplies. Next weekend could see bitterly cold weather introducing wintry showers in the area.
