700th anniversary of Burnham church marked with new history panels

The 700th anniversary of Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church has been marked with the unveiling of a series of new information panels.

The eight boards have been installed in the church, one for each century, to feature the local, national and world events that have taken place throughout the years, together with details of how the building itself has evolved.

Members of Burnham-On-Sea U3A researched and compiled the historic information and pupils of St Andrew’s School collected the details of the 21st century.

The church’s Reverend Graham Witts said all are welcome to visit the church. “The church is open from 11am to 4pm each weekday and Saturday until the end of September and so far this year we have welcomed 3,200 visitors including many from overseas.”
