Wildlife carers near Burnham-On-Sea are looking after two snakes that had to be rescued after getting tangled up in garden netting.

The team at Secret World in East Huntspill have been nursing the grass snakes after they got into difficulty in separate incidents.

Secret World spokeswoman Josie Nott told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Both the snakes got trapped in netting next to garden ponds – they like the water in the warm weather and it’s easy for them to get tangled up.”

“One snake was found tangled in a garden in Chedzoy, near Bridgwater, and the other was brought to us from Bristol on Friday evening (July 10th).”

“We’ve cleaned up their wounds and gave one antibiotics. The wounds looked bad but he’s doing better now after a visit from the vet.”

Grass snakes are non-venomous and are found throughout England, often near water.
