Burnham-On-Sea pupils are crowned Sedgemoor swimming champs!

Pupils from Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s School have been celebrating this week after winning the sixth Annual Sedgemoor Schools Primary Schools Gala.

Burnham Swim & Sports Academy hosted the popular event, which saw five teams taking part with 24 swimmers per team.

They were selected to compete in the gala, comprising of 41 races, which included individual races and relays for children in years 3, 4 5 & 6.

“The atmosphere at the Academy was phenomenal, with teachers, parents, family and friends cheering on the young swimmers to produce some outstanding performances,” Sara Cox Conklin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The Team Results were: 1st St Andrews A: 189 points, 2nd St Andrews B: 144 points, 3rd Mark First School: 123 points, 4th Churchfield: 96 points, 5th East Huntspill: 63 points.

Sarah added: “From all the team at the Swim & Sports Academy, we would like to say a huge thanks to all the heads, teachers and support staff for making the sixth Sedgemoor Schools Primary Schools Gala such a great success.”

“The Academy could obviously not run this event without your support and we cannot thank you enough for allowing your swimmers the opportunity to take part. We were extremely proud to watch first-hand the passion the swimmers had for racing and ‘giving it a go’, whether they touched first of last they represented themselves, the school and the community impeccably.”
