Firefighters freed a person from a car after an incident on the A38 involving a car and a lorry on Wednesday (April 22nd) near Burnham-On-Sea.

Crews from Cheddar, Winscombe and Weston-super-Mare attended an accident in Rooksbridge, near East Brent and Brent Knoll, at around 9.45am.

The ambulance service and police also attended the scene and the road was closed for a short period of time.

A fire spokesman said: “The crew confirmed that there was a person trapped in the front seat of the car and got to work preparing the equipment in order to extricate the casualty.”

“Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment in order to remove the roof of the vehicle to extricate the casualty onto a long board. The casualty was left in the hands of the ambulance service.”

The casualty was taken to hospital with several injuries.
