A man who stole items from Highbridge’s Isleport Recycling Centre has received a community order from magistrates.

Somerset Waste Partnership said there was no escape for Husyin Guda, who was tracked down by police and brought to court.

Mr Guda, who twice stole items from the recycling site, admitted ‘theft by finding’ on two occasions at Highbridge Recycling Centre in 2014 as well as possession of the Class B drug amphetamine.

Taunton Magistrates have sentenced him to a community order of 40 hours of unpaid community work, to be supervised by the probation service for 12 months, and to pay £60 costs.

Anyone with information about recycling site crime should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
