Highbridge Rail Station services to be reduced during 48-hour strike

-

Rail travellers using Highbridge and Burnham Railway Station have been warned to expect a reduced service as a result of a strike from later today (Wednesday).

First Great Western has released new timetables ahead of a 48-hour rail strike that will begin this evening.

A limited peak time train service is expected to operate through Highbridge and Burnham Rail Station. The strike is due to start at 6.30pm today (Wednesday) and continue for 48 hours.

Out of those voting, 80% of the RMT union’s First Great Western members voted to strike in a dispute relating to the new Hitachi Inter-City trains. The union says First Great Western has refused to give “very basic assurances” about passenger safety and jobs.

A revised timetable will be in operation. Capacity will be limited and therefore trains will be very busy. More details are available online here.
