Hearts captured by Nanuq, a friendly life-size polar bear, in Burnham

-

Nanuq, an animatronic polar bear, captured the hearts of hundreds of Burnham-On-Sea residents during a unique show held in the town on Saturday (December 5th).

The Ritz Social Club in Victoria Street hosted a special visit by Bjorn, an incredible life-size polar bear, organised by the Town Council as part of its ‘Frostival’ celebrations.

Over 600 families, friends and ‘big kids’ visited to see the three shows, pictured here.

Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This was my highlight so far from the entertainment we have booked in.”

“Families had clearly planned a day out with many saying that they were checking out the skating rink, the Christmas markets, carols in the cove, the polar bear and the lights at Trinity Rise – and some shopping or lunch too.”

The Frostival is an umbrella term and a way of being able to advertise the wide variety of events planned from Burnham Chamber of Trade’s Christmas lights switch-on in Burnham right through to the Christmas Day services at the local churches.

30,000 leaflets promoting the events have been distributed locally, across the region and in the Midlands. You can access the leaflet here.

“I hope that residents come into the town centre to experience some festive cheer alongside visiting some of our shops, restaurants, cinema or theatre.”
