The clerk of a parish council near Burnham-On-Sea has retired this week after almost 12 years in the role.

Bruce Poole, from Burnham, has been clerk at East Huntspill Parish Council since 2003 and was thanked for his time in the position during a presentation on Monday evening (March 16th).

“I have really enjoyed being clerk in East Huntspill – it has been a busy role and has been great to see many positive changes made in the village,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “These include a new £200,000 play area, new affordable homes and the removal of an unsightly recycling area.”

Jane Moreton has taken on the role. Bruce has stepped down to give him more time and continues to be the clerk of Bleadon Parish Council, a role he has filled for 25 years.
