Kind-hearted shoppers in Highbridge have donated almost £300 to help people affected by the recent devastating Nepal earthquake.

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club organised a collection at the Asda store in Highbridge on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May, raising £273.89 over the two days, as pictured above.

A further £123.07 was raised from the Rotary Club’s Human Fruit Machine at last month’s Burnham Food & Drink Festival, giving a total of £416.96.

“The proceeds will be used for purchasing Water Survival Boxes, which are 54-litre plastic boxes with water purification and other survival equipment, including shelter, to sustain life after such disasters as the recent earthquakes in Nepal,” said the group’s spokesman George Moon.
