Burnham-On-Sea Medical Centre bids to reduce missed appointments

-

Burnham & Berrow Medical Centre has introduced a new patient reminder service in a bid to reduce the number of missed appointments.

From next week patients at Burnham & Berrow Medical Centre will benefit from text message reminders for booked appointments at the surgery.

In the last 6 months, 743 doctors appointments (3%) and 1630 nurse appointments (8%) were wasted when patients failed to arrive or notify the surgery that they no longer need their appointments (DNA).

“This equates to wasted resources as we are unable to rebook these appointments,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“This is particularly important to us all during the busy winter months. Less wasted appointments, mean shorter waiting times for everyone!”

“Patients who wish to cancel their appointments can now leave an answerphone message for the receptionists, which is picked up on a daily basis.”
