RNLI station launches £41,000 lifeboat appeal
at Burnham-On-Sea RNLI have this week launched a special fundraising
appeal to raise £41,000 towards the cost of a new lifeboat.
current D-Class lifeboat, called Puffin, will come to the end
of its operational life next year after giving 10 years of service
since its arrival in 2006. The boat has carried out scores of
rescues in that time.

Davies, RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager at Burnham, said: "This
is an exciting time for all the volunteers at Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat
are starting the campaign to try and raise £41,000 for a
new boat. We'd like it to be a community-led event by getting
local businesses and people involved so they feel part of the
RNLI Chairman Ashley Edwards added: "Our fundraising team
already have a lot of fun and interesting fundraising events lined
up for the next 12 months and the crew are looking forward to
getting involved and working with the community to raise the money."
RNLI currently has a 7.5m Atlantic 75 called Staines Whitfield
and the smaller 4.95m D class inflatable boat named Puffin which
will be retiring.
