Burnham’s August Bank Holiday Fete ‘bigger than ever’ this year

Burnham-On-Sea’s annual August Bank Holiday Monday summer fete promises to be “bigger and better than ever” this year, say organisers.

Monday’s fete will be held as usual in the town’s Manor Gardens, starting at 11am and running through until 4pm.

Organised by the Friends of Burnham Hospital, the event will see dozens of stalls, displays and entertainment set up.

The timetable for events in the main arena is as follows: 11.15am-11.45am children’s entertainer; 12noon to 12.30pm Display by the Monarchs Gymnastic team; 1.15-1.30pm Children’s entertainer; 2-2.30pm Display by Lisa Jane School of Dancing; and 3.30pm Performance by Gracie Wickens-Sweet.

“There will be something for all the family, from a bouncy castle, slides and rides, to football games and many others for the children,” said a spokesman.

“There will also be ice creams, candy floss, hot snacks, teas and cakes. There will also be mini train rides and our now famous bottle stall where a 50p ticket could win you a decent tipple!”

All profits from the fete will go to make life better for patients and staff of Burnham Hospital.

In addition, many other charities including BARB Search & Rescue, Macmillan Cancer Support, the RNLI and others will be present running stalls and games.

Organisers are keeping a close eye on the weather and say that in the event of heavy rain the event will be moved to the Baptist and Methodist Church halls in College Street.
