Burnham-On-Sea youngster helps charity by donating her hair

A Burnham-On-Sea youngster has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by donating several inches of her hair.

Leia-Mae Adams, 9, decided to give ten inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust, who provide real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Leia-Mae, a pupil at Burnham’s St Andrew’s School and a keen football player at Berrow JFC, decided that she wanted to help the charity in memory of family friend Joe Laoutaris who lost his battle against cancer earlier this year.

Leia-Mae said: “I was shocked by the amount of donations made, even getting sponsors from people I don’t even know. I just want to help children suffering with hair loss.”

So far the amount she’s raised is £463 with more donations being made every day, with gift aid still to be added.

“Many thanks go to Josh and Unique hairdressers in Burnham-On-Sea for helping
on the day.”

If anyone would like to donate, they can follow the link here. The Little Princess Trust has helped hundreds of young people across the country and its mission is to supply real-hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment. They also assist children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.
