Burnham-On-Sea’s MP and his family were among the visitors at Father Christmas’ grotto at the town’s seafront hovercraft station over the weekend.

MP James Heappey was among hundreds of visitors who called in at the BARB station on Burnham’s Esplanade to see Santa handing out gifts to youngsters from his sleigh on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Over £2,500 was raised for BARB Search & Rescue’s life-saving work along Burnham’s coastline with its hovercrafts and inshore rescue boats. BARB relies solely on donations to carry out its work.

A spokesman said: “It was wonderful to se so many families enjoying the grotto over the weekend. We are very grateful for all the support of BARB and wish everyone a very happy Christmas.”

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress officially opened Father Christmas’ grotto at the town’s seafront hovercraft station on Saturday (December 19th) as it started a three-day run.
