First Burnham Farmers Market of 2015 set to be held this Friday

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s farmers market returns to the town’s High Street this Friday (February 27th) for its first event of the year.

Stalls will be set-up selling local produce including fruit, local meat, vegetables, cakes, cheese, pies, bakery items and milk from 9am-1pm.

It comes after January’s market in Burnham was cancelled due to the threat of severe weather.

Market co-ordinator Louise Hall told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Apologies to those who braved the weather last month and found the market cancelled – we did our best to give everyone advance notice. The weather forecast predicted severe winds, too dangerous for our canopies to be erected so a very difficult decision had to be made. We all really hate letting customers down.”

“The good news is that we will have a full house on Friday, minus our chocolate stall but with a return of Herby4 and a first outing for The Crafty Tea Cup with their range of delicious locally made cakes from just around the corner in Victoria Street.”

“It’s a very good time to be selecting game as the range is still very varied, so make a point of visiting Garry at G&M Country Sports to find out what is still in season.”

“Over the next few months, Gaynor on our Community Stall will be recruiting volunteers for local events. If your groups needs volunteers, please contact Gaynor on 01278 238714 with the details.”

“Finally, don’t forget to pick up your Burnham Farmers’ Market postcard with all of the 2015 dates, courtesy of our sponsors Mogers Drewett Solicitors.”

Friday’s line up includes:

  • A&A Decorations – stylish wooden craft items
  • Country Markets – a fruity range of preserves and honey
  • Ellises Farm – traditional breed pork and charcuterie
  • GM Country Sports – game in season with lots of choice at present including burgers and sausages
