The Met Office’s warnings of strong winds, snow and ice for Friday (January 30th) prompted the cancellation of the town’s monthly farmers market.

A yellow warning for snow and ice was in force across the area, with forecasters saying there was a risk of bad weather.

The forecast led to Friday’s High Street market being cancelled.

Louise Hall, Markets Co-ordinator, explained: “The weather forecast is for very high winds and it is therefore not safe for customers or traders to put up canopies in the High Street.”
