Burnham-On-Sea’s lifeguards have been called out to their first incident of the summer season.

Within hours of starting their summer operations on Saturday morning (July 4th), the lifeguards and beachwardens were called to help this family when they got into difficulty on Burnham beach at 1pm.

“They had wandered past the red flag to reach the sea when the father briefly got stuck in knee-deep mud and soft sand,” said a spokesman.

The family, from the West Midlands, said thjey had walked out to try and wash mud from their feet in the sea.

The beachwarden and RNLI lifeguards quickly went out to the family and led them to safety before giving them advice.
